Bu Tjitro is very popular among fans of gudeg Jogja. Bu Tjitro's gudeg is one of the most delicious gudeg in Jogja. Fluffier rice is served with gudeg kering (dry gudeg), buntil daun pepaya (papaya leaves) which is not bitter at all, and sambal goreng of krecek, tempe, and soy bean. Opor ayam and telur (chicken and egg cooked in coconut milk) are added on this package served on a clay plate covered by banana leaf. The gravy of opor is then poured to create special savory taste to this gudeg. Not forgetting a portion of spicy sambal bajag. Hmmmm...., what a wonderful combination. Except providing gudeg kendil that will be good for 48 hours, Bu Tjitro Restaurant also produce gudeg kaleng (canned gudeg) that is good for 1 year!

This restaurant was started on 1925 by Bu Tjitro. Because of the good quality and its wonderful taste, this restaurant is growing bigger and bigger. It is currently creating other cuisines and adding them to its menu list without leaving its speciality on gudeg. Try Sup Kembang Tahu or the unique Ayam Herbal. Free range chicken is cooked with combination of dried dates, ginseng, ginger, cinnamon, and other spices. Chicken broth is perfectly blended with the flavor of ginger. This soup is amazingly nice and also healthy. It can help you overcome fatigue and also boost your stamina. If you are feeling like just sitting down and snacking, crispy Calamary Hot Ring and many flavors of ice cream are available. The food range from IDR 9,000 - IDR 150,000 and beverages such as teh poci, teh serai (lemon grass tea), teh rosela, fruit and vegetables juices or beras kencur range from IDR 4,000 - IDR 18,500.

From either Adisucipto Airport or Yogyakarta Royal Palace, it can be reached within 10 - 15 minutes driving. This 2 storey restaurant is very cozy and classy. If you want to have a relaxed atmosphere of dining, you can choose lesehan area.
